Discovering Christchurch & Surrounding Area

The cooking class theme for this long weekend is “farm to plate”, featuring “the best food Canterbury has to offer” including grass-fed Canterbury lamb, locally grown grains and wines.

One of the highlights and opened in 1932, is New Regent Street. It is Christchurch’s only complete heritage streetscape with beautiful Spanish Mission architecture, and a distinctive pastel colour scheme.

We visit some great markets, visit some “cool & trendy” places along with seeing Christchurch’s “new & old” architecture. On the list of places to visit is The Tannery – where you will be surprised and amazed at the spectacular architecture of the Tannery complex, resurrected from the historic Victorian Tannery buildings now accommodating owner operated and specialist shops you won’t see anywhere else.

The Christchurch Club is on our list of places to visit; a Category 1 Historical Place which was founded by 12 graziers in 1856 as a gentlemen’s retreat.
