Exploring the Central North Island
Departing Wellington, this is the last tour of the year and spend the last night in Greytown where we have the opportunity for Christmas shopping along with having a celebratory end of year dinner. If you’ve been on any of our previous Girls on the Road #foodiephotogrpahytours, why not join us for the last night and join in the festive celebrations.
The highlight will be staying at Blue Duck Station which is located in the Ruapehu District on the banks of the Whanganui and Retaruke Rivers, and surrounded by Whanganui National Park, is an outdoor photographer’s playground.
As seen on Country Calendar, we will also learn about the station’s core values around conserving endangered wildlife, increase the health of native bush and rivers, and preserve the history of the area.
For the photographers amongst us, this is a dream location and have the opportunity to 4WD to the top of one the highest peaks on the station to capture absolutely awesome sunrises and views.
Stopping off for a night or two at The Chateau, why not enjoy a cup of their signature hot chocolate. Again, for those eager enough to get up early, we drive to The Bruce to capture images the sun rising. While we are here, there is a beautiful walk to take, and never fear, our driver will pick us up at the end to save walking all the way back. There is of course, and if you haven’t visited before, it is a must to have morning tea at the National Park train station where their Devonshire Tea is amazing.
Before we head to the Wairarapa, we are hosted for morning tea and a tour of a beautiful garden in the Turangi region.
