The Hidden Gems of Wairarapa

Come join us as we explore Wairarapa, a rural area with an off-the-beaten track charm, where the towns have their own individual character and charm. Wairarapa, known for its world class wines with Martinborough the centre of the local wine industry while Greytown the architectural charm.  Ngawi known for the colourful array of old bulldozers and tractors lined up on the beach, then Cape Palliser for the North Island’s most southern lighthouse and watch the seal colony, plus so much more.

We start our exploration in Wellington with a visit to World of WearableArts.  The highlights of this weekend include Greytown, Masterton, Martinborough and of course, while we are in the area visits to local wineries. along with sampling the delights of Wairarapa’s local cafes.

Tell me about the photography?

All levels of photography expertise are catered for (digital and smart phones) and beginners are VERY welcome. Lesley offers a great learning environment with expert guidance, instruction and personal attention. You will leave with increased confidence, motivation, inspiration and having met some new photography BFFs.

Lesley will help you make the most of the wonderful photographic opportunities on this tour with some of the highlights being capturing the sun rising over Cape Palliser, seal colony and an abundance of seascape and landscape photography.   If the conditions are right, astrophotography is on the list of opportunities as the low light pollution and atmospheric conditions around the coast are some of the clearest skies in the world.  All attendees received an A5 photo journal, an invaluable notebook to make notes of camera settings plus a quick reference guide for each photography genre.

What do I need to bring?

An equipment list will be provided on booking, but you’ll need your smart phone or camera with lenses such as 18-55 and 55-250, tripod and ND filters.

What if I don’t have a camera?

Don’t worry, Lesley has a selection of quality hire equipment available, including complete camera kits containing Canon camera with lens, two batteries, tripod, filters, camera bag/backpack, two SD cards, plus lens and camera cleaning equipment.  Enquiries to lesley@lesleywhytephotography.co.nz
