Introducing Tracey Maddox – Plant Doctor

We are super excited that Tracey Maddox has joined Girls on the Road Again to be part of our co-host team.

Tracey was born and raised on a large farm in Northland, was where her passion for food and gardening started.  Growing and farming their own food was their way of life. Tracey says that both her parents came from large families, in total giving her 22 aunts and uncles, not to mention the copious amounts of cousins.

Tracey is equally at home on our combined foodie/wine and gardening tours as the kitchen played a big role where  quickly felt at home which led her to have 20 years working in the hospitality industry, eventually becoming a restaurant manager in a large corporate hotel.

Not to let her passion for gardening wain while in hospitality, Tracey was always surrounded in house plants and had her own vegetable garden. Tracey’s love for plants and gardening never wavered, and decided on a career change which led her to study horticulture full time.

At the end of her studies, Tracey says she landed the “job of my dreams”, working in a Garden Centre surrounded by plants. Tracey has now been with Kings Plant Barn for 20 years working in all areas of the business.

Her role at Kings is now Online Plant Doctor where people email her with questions about problems they may have in the garden. You’ll also see Tracey presenting workshops and demonstrations in-store at Kings store in Mount Wellington.

Tracey says “to this day love my career choice and sharing my knowledge with passionate plant people”.
